From their first album, released in 1985 and produced by Steve Hillage, and the single When Your Heart Is Weak and The Promise You Made, Cock Robin was a great success in Europe, especially in France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Two years later they released their second album, After Here Through Midland. It was produced by Don Gehman, who had worked on albums by John Mellencamp and REM. The first single, Just Around The Corner, quickly became a hit in France and Continental Europe (back in the Top 20) where the group toured for several months. In 1989, a third album was released, produced by Rhett Davies, the producer of Roxy Music, which is quite logical given that Roxy Music is one of the influences of Cock Robin. The album was accompanied by a new hit - especially in France - Worlds Apart, and a new tour in Europe. This was when the band split and Kingsbery pursued a solo career in France, where he settled.
